We have for sale a wonderfully characterful example of an early 19th century dowery chest. It has the initials S W carved in the front panel.

Carved from solid oak, with a huge wide plank lid.

Rustic untreated oak, which has a pleasant bleached appearance as opposed to the more usual dark wax.

In good solid condition throughout.

One of the carved diamond relief decorations on the drawer is missing.

The hinges have been removed (but could be easily replaced) so now the heavy oak plank lid just rests firmly in place. It has later reinforcements to make solid where the planks join.

Original candle box inside.
