Description 🔉
A lovely example of a current issue MKIII Fairbairn–Sykes Command Knife MKIII by A J Nowill & Son. Blade in mint condition but the leather needs a polish.
The Sykes-Fairbairn MK 3 Commando Knife is a combat weapon designed for British commandos and special forces. Developed in the early 1940s by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes—both martial arts experts and veterans of the British Army's Shanghai Municipal Police—the knife became an iconic tool for close-quarters combat.
Its design is instantly recognizable, featuring a symmetrical, double-edged blade approximately 7 inches (18 cm) in length, crafted from high-carbon steel. The blade's dual sharp edges make it ideal for both cutting and thrusting techniques. The handle, made from brass with a knurled texture, ensures a firm grip even in wet conditions.
Specifically created for hand-to-hand combat, the MK 3 Commando Knife earned a reputation as a highly effective weapon, widely utilized by British commandos and other elite forces during World War II and beyond.
