Description 🔉

The Gun Salute is a painting by Willem van de Velde showing a Dutch ship firing a gun salute. The original was painted around 1680, Willem having arrived in England in 1672. Willem subsequently became court painter to Charles II. What we have here is a copy, yes, but a copy painted in oils on canvas being a substantial 66x77cms before framing. Imagine this over your fireplace.
