Description 🔉

Serial numbered 43977 by Hawkes & Son; this fanfare trumpet dates to May 1922. Originally under the ownership of Jim Terris, the item was passed on to Jim Greer [Principal Trumpet Player] [Royal Signals] by Terris?s father. The article ?Musicians Salute Cornet Player Who United The Somme Trenches? gives some insight into Terris?s experience. During the action at High Wood on the Somme, Terris was awarded a Military Medal along with the 1914 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal respectively. Injuries sustained in combat sadly led to serious internal complications and his early discharge on the 22nd of October 1917. The current owner of Terris?s medals is unknown but his medals were sold on the market recently by ?Medals of England.com.? Terris, a passionate musician, pursued his hobby of trumpet playing throughout his life up until his early passing from ?war injuries sustained in combat.? I have been unable to find the source of the above image of Terris, but it was recently published in an article by Wilson?s auctioneers several years ago.
