Description 🔉

For sale, a charming painting of the Commissioner’s Wife and Child, after Paris Bardone (1500-1571) and Pietro Della Vecchia (1602/1603–1678).

This artwork was most likely created by a student of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, circa the early 19th century (post-1815), following the granting of the royal title to the Academy in that year. It was probably produced for export, as reproducing earlier portraiture for foreign markets was a common practice among students of the Academy.

On the reverse are two seals of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Venice.

Size: 102 cm × 79 cm (framed)

Provenance:
Acquired in Italy during the 1920s by the father of the previous owner, and thence by descent within the family.

___________________
