John Frederick Loos 1861-1895 From A Family Of Marine Artists Working In Antwerp During The second half of The Nineteenth Century. Son Of John F Loos 1859-1867. Unlike His Father John Painted Vessels In A Smoother Manner. Working Predominantly In Oils John Received Numerous Commissions From British And American Ships Captains Who Called To Antwerp. A more Prolific Artist Than Both His Father And Brother Henry, The Majority Of Johns Works Depict Sailing Vessels On The English Channel. Artworks Held In Collections Of The Yarmouth Museum In Nova Scotia, The Peabody Essex Museum At Salem In Massachusetts, The Maine Maritime Museum At Bath In Maine As Well As Several Museums In Belgium. Artwork Depicting Early 19th Century Tall Triple Masted British Sailing Vessel At Sea With Intricately Painted Masts And Rigging. Light Grey Hull With Prominent White Markings, Long Deck With Visible Lifeboats And Severn Crew Members Including Captain At Ships Wheel At The Bow, Other Crew In Various Poses.
