Description 🔉

British Artist Helen Bradley 1900-1979 Guild Stamped Lithograph Signed Circa - 1973 Composition - Ink On Vellum Brief Artist Overview Born In Leeds, Oldham in 1900. Helen only began to paint regularly when she was 65, her motivation was to show her grandchildren how different her own childhood had been growing up in the Edwardian Era. She was heavily influenced by L S LOWRY when encouraged in a chance meeting in the 1960's. Helen's artwork quickly found a enthusiastic audience, from her debut in 1965 until her death in 1979 she appeared on TV internationally. She worked first by writing a short story based on her childhood memories, then illustrating it in her simplistic nïave style. Helen's earliest work often features herself and her brother as children, her later work had a surreal dreamlike quality. in 1971 she published the first of four books (And Miss Carter Wore Pink) of her paintings which became a huge success, published across America, Japan And Europe then demand for her work became strong globally.
