Solid Silver Lloyd Lindsey Goblet awarded to Sgt Major Dger and Trooper H. M. Hanre, retailed by Jouquin Carl Bechtler, Allahabad, India in 1908. Hallmarked 1906 by James Deakin & Sons, Sheffield. Total weight 132g. Height 15cm.

Brief History:

First started in 1873 in the UK by Colonel Sir James Loyd-Lindsay, the Lloyd Lindsey Awards intent was to improve the quality of marksmanship performed by Volunteer mounted infantry units. This competition involved a team of four horsemen jumping over a series of hurdles and firing their rifles in unison. Points were awarded for speed, accuracy and style.

Bechtler Brief History:
A Swiss and French-trained silversmith, Jouquin Carl Bechtler, established his firm JC Bechtler Son & Co in the 1880s in Colonial India at Allahabad. He later opened shops in other cities in India.
