Description 🔉

An interesting Scottish cross hilted sword dated 1869 with a Victorian regina pommel. Believed to be a hunting sword due to the style of the blade, lack of regimental marks and etchings as seen on military examples. Cross hilted swords, inspired by the medieval Claymore became increasingly popular in Scotland during the mid to late 19th century due to the swords ease of use and comfort. Although basket hilted examples remained in traditional use, their size detered an ever increasing audience.

Condition:
Very minor pitting but overall on good condition.
