Description 🔉

Object:

Early 20th century other ranks Royal Engineers tunic. Most likely pre 1914 due to the pattern but following the cessation of hostilities in 1918, the tunic has seen interwar service. As shown, this tunic is an issued item in which the original recipient wore three medal ribbons. The details unknown but most likely to be the 1914-15 star, British War & Victory Medal. - Unnamed. The tunic shows a black velvet collar as correct for the RE, but without the yellow chord as commonly seen on early examples - This is most likely a interwar modification. Button are complete and correct being - General Service, Post 1901 Kings Crown.

Condition:

Excellent condition with little to no wear. Little to no visible moth damage.

Note:
This listing is for the tunic ONLY. The belt is a Victoria Crown buff leather belt dating to the 1870's, possibly for militia making this an incorrect display piece. - Although this argument is contentious as Victoria Crown buckles were worn post 1901.
