A very rare `1770's American Revolutionary era naval seaman's cutlass. Crudely built, wooden grip with a wide sheet of iron handguard. and a unfullered blade. Similar examples both with a horn and wooden grip have been described in 'Swords and Blades of the American Revolution' by George C Neumann.
